#84 Benji Gil

WATCHING : verb \ˈwäch, ˈwȯch\
: to look at (someone or something) for an amount of time and pay attention to what is happening

Benji did a lot of watching from the bench mostly as a utility player never appearing in more than 130 games in a season.

First Mexican native to be picked in the first round of Major League Baseball's amateur draft.

Won a World Series with the Anaheim Angels in 2002, batting .800 (4for5).

  1. I had a soft spot for Benji Gil when he was with the Angels even though fans were complaining about him taking at-bats away from Adam Kennedy.

  2. Agreed. I never had a problem with him. I was jazzed when I finally got his autograph at a Rangers Alumni event here a few years back.
